Carson City's proximity to the Bay Area and Sacramento make it an easy weekend getaway for road-trippers. And Reno's hassle-free airport provides a low-pressure travel experience.

Take Highway 80 East into Reno, and take a turn south on Highway 395. Follow Highway 395 for approximately 30 miles, until you see the sign "Welcome to Carson City, Nevada's Capital." Travelers coming from Lake Tahoe can travel Highway 50 east along Lake Tahoe's South Shore until it intersects with Highway 395 at Carson City's south end. Take a left to get to the downtown corridor.

Air travel is also easy with daily direct flights from major hubs into Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The airport, located approximately 30 miles from Carson City, is free from the hassles of big city airports. Simply get off the airplane, retrieve your baggage and walk to the car rental agency or arrange for one of the many southbound shuttles.
